HAP AND LEONARD
HAP AND LEONARD, featuring James Purefoy (Rome, The Following), Michael Kenneth Williams (The Wire, Boardwalk Empire) and Christina Hendricks (Mad Men), will premiere Wed., Mar. 2 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT. Set in the late 1980s, HAP AND LEONARD is a darkly comic swamp noir story of two best friends, one femme fatale, a crew of washed-up revolutionaries, a pair of murderous psycho-killers, some lost loot and the fuzz. Based on the novels by Joe Lansdale, the six-hour series event follows Hap Collins (Purefoy), an East Texas white boy with a weakness for Southern women, and Leonard Pine (Williams), a gay, black Vietnam vet with a hot temper. When Hap’s seductive ex-wife Trudy (Hendricks) resurfaces with a deal they can’t refuse, a simple get-rich-quick scheme snowballs into bloody mayhem. Chock full of eccentric characters, HAP AND LEONARD provides a country twist on the classic mystery thriller.

Produced by AMC Studios, the six-episode event series was developed by director/writer Jim Mickle (Cold in July, We Are What We Are and Stakeland) and writer Nick Damici (Cold in July, We Are What We Are and Stakeland). The project is executive produced by Jim Mickle, Nick Damici, Jeremy Platt and Nick Shumaker, along with co-executive producers Joe Lansdale, Linda Moran and Lowell Northrop. This project marks Mickle’s and Damici’s second major collaboration with Lansdale, as the pair previously collaborated on the film adaptation of Lansdale’s novel Cold in July, which was selected to premiere at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival. Additional HAP AND LEONARD cast members include Jimmi Simpson (“House of Cards”), Bill Sage (American Psycho), Pollyanna McIntosh, Neil Sandilands and Jeff Pope.

“It’s been a blast working with the great Joe Lansdale again to bring more of his iconic characters to the screen,” said director, writer and executive producer Jim Mickle. “Hap and Leonard demanded their own show, and we gave it to them. SundanceTV is the perfect home for our boys and everyone we’ve come to love in their unique universe. After premiering Cold in July at the Sundance Film Festival and now expanding to something equally one-of-a-kind on SundanceTV, it feels like we’ve come deliciously full circle.”

“Brooks Brothers” Campaign

Brooks Brothers Fall Campaign: Christina Hendricks & Geoffrey Arend

Brooks Brothers recently unveiled their fall 2015 campaign. Christina and her husband, Geoffrey Arend, are featured in the new My Brooks Brothers Story campaign. Check out the video and photos below!

Perhaps the most important sartorial decision a man can make is what to wear on his wedding day. Geoffrey selected a Brooks Brothers custom-made three-piece glen plaid suit in which to marry Christina Hendricks in 2009. “I have long arms and long legs; I’m like a monster to fit for a suit,” Arend jokes. “When I put the suit on, it was almost like I was wearing a suit for the first time.”

The couple are starring in the “What’s your Brooks Brothers story?” photographed by Carlo Miari Fulcis. On the last day of shooting in Milk Studios in Hollywood, Hendricks jokes that they’re like one of those old married couples out of a romantic comedy. Except that their chemistry is no Hollywood act. Arend starts reminiscing about proposing to the eight-time Emmy nominee. “You have to give the abbreviated story!” she exclaims. But he doesn’t. Instead, he recounts each carefully planned detail, from the chandelier under which he proposed, to selecting the glen plaid fabric for the Brooks Brothers suit he wore down the aisle. They were introduced by a mutual actor friend in 2007.

Of their New York City wedding, Hendricks recalls, “He just looked so handsome—and so nervous. He looked so nervous!” Her husband admits that he was, but adds, “That day, dressed like that, I felt like the most powerful man in the world.” After the shoot wraps, Hendricks jumps to pick up the couple’s cockapoo puppy, Zou Zou, who’s been watching from the sidelines. The happy family is complete again.

Christina Hendricks, Emily Watson to Star in ‘The Angel Makers’ (Exclusive)

The romantic drama centers on the women of England’s Yorkshire Moors, who were left to maintain the farms when their men headed off to fight in France in 1917.

Mad Men star Christina Hendricks and two-time Oscar nominee Emily Watson will star in The Angel Makers, a WWI romantic drama that will be directed by English filmmaker Jon Amiel.

Abbie Cornish (Limitless), Max Riemelt (Sense8) and David Kross (The Reader) have also joined the film, which is slated to begin production in January.

The film, based on true events, centers on the women of England’s Yorkshire Moors, who were left to maintain the farms when their men headed off to fight in France in 1917. When the women enlist German POWs from a nearby internment camp to do labor on their land, affairs soon begin to bloom.

Six-time Emmy nominated actress Hendricks will play the leader of the women, whose skills as a midwife and witch doctor are needed to mix the potions that can save a life, or take it away.

Arclight Films will present the project to buyers at TIFF and is handling worldwide sales. “We have all of the elements of a major commercial success in place; an award-winning and visionary director, a team of powerful producers, an extremely talented, world-renown cast and a captivating, well-written story,” says Arclight Films svp of sales and acquisitions Clay Epstein.

The Angel Makers is produced by Jeanna Polley, Alice de Sousa and Nicolas Steil.

“We are thrilled to be working with an extremely talented and dedicated team, from our amazing cast and crew to our international sales team at Arclight Films,” said Polley. “The Angel Makers is a dark, poignant romantic drama with just the right amount of comedic elements to give it that real-life quality. The film is something everyone can relate to as it brings the audience into the lives of some very courageous, strong and independent figures who demonstrate just how strong and resilient one can be in difficult times.”

Hendricks played Joan on AMC’s hit series Mad Men for seven seasons. Her recent films include Ryan Gosling’s Lost River and Dark Places, the adaptation of Gillian Flynn’s novel starring Charlize Theron. She will also appear in Nicolas Winding Refn’s upcoming film The Neon Demon, and she’s repped by ICM Partners, LINK Entertainment and Hirsch Wallerstein.

Christina to Star in SundanceTV’s “Hap and Leonard”

‘Mad Men’s’ Christina Hendricks to Star in Sundance’s ‘Hap and Leonard’

Mad Men’s Christina Hendricks has found her follow-up role.

The Emmy nominee has joined the cast of the Sundance TV drama Hap and Leonard, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Based on the book series by Joe Lansdale, the six-episode series centers on a pair of best friends and martial arts experts Hap Collins (The Following’s James Purefoy) and Leonard Pine (Boardwalk Empire‘s Michael Kenneth Williams) who struggle through misadventure in a bid to stay on the right side of the law in 1980 East Texas.

Hendricks will star as Hap’s ex-wife Trudy, who resurfaces after two years with a proposition that he can’t refuse. Equal parts funny and shocking, the drama offers a side-eyed look into race, class and friendship.

For Hendricks, the role marks her follow-up to AMC’s Mad Men — which garnered her five supporting actress Emmy nominations for her role as Joan Harris. The casting also keeps her in the AMC family as SundanceTV is owned by corporate parent AMC Networks and overseen by AMC president Charlie Collier, who has a longstanding relationship with the actress.

Hendricks, who also won two Critics’ Choice awards for her Mad Men performance, is repped by ICM Partners and Link Management. Her recent credits include Comedy Central’s spoof Another Period. The casting comes after Hendricks exited Showtime’s Cameron Crowe pilot Roadies, which will recast the part.

Hap and Leonard will air in 2016. The drama hails from Cold in July writers Jim Mickle and Nick Damici, marking the duo’s second Lansdale adaptation. The pair have adapted Lansdale’s novels, novellas and short stories of the same name for this drama. Mickle will direct, with Nick Schumaker and Jeremy Platt exec producing. Lansdale will co-exec produce with Lowell NorthropLinda Moran will produce. The drama is produced by Sundance Studios.
