Christina Hendricks joins Superman cartoon

James Denton, Christina Hendricks and Anthony LaPaglia are lending their pipes to “All-Star Superman,” the animated adaptation of one of the most acclaimed comics of the past decade.

The story begins with the Man of Steel (Denton) oversaturated by radiation during a rescue mission near the sun, accelerating the degeneration of his cells. Knowing that he has a limited time before he dies, Superman sets out on a journey that sees him revealing his secret to Lois Lane (Hendricks), giving Lex Luthor (LaPaglia) an epiphany on humanity and ensuring the safety of Earth for when he is gone.

Also in the cast are Ed Asner as Perry White and Frances Conroy as Ma Kent along with Linda Cardellini, Arnold Vosloo and Matthew Gray Gubler.

The Warner Bros. film is due to be released in the spring.

“All-Star Superman” is the first animated work for Denton and Hendricks best known for their respective work on TV’s “Desperate Housewives” and “Mad Men.” LaPaglia was heard in “Happy Feet” and voices a character in Warner Bros.’ big-budget Zach Snyder-directed toon feature “Legend of the Guardians,” out next week.

Christina Hendricks won’t go nude for a movie

CHRISTINA Hendricks has been inundated with movie offers over the past few months — but has turned most of them down because they require her to go nude!

The busty Mad Men star is keen to break into movies — but is adamant she won’t be taking her clothes off, sources say.

“Christina is riding the crest of a wave right now and the offers are flooding in,” says a source close to the star.

“She would love to do more movies and is in the process of considering projects to tie in with the show’s hiatus. She has noticed though that a good number of roles she’s being offered require her to go nude.

“Clearly everyone wants to see more of Christina but she doesn’t want to be over exposed in the wrong way.”

Hendricks recently revealed that she’d like to star in a musical.

“I sing a bit and I would like to pursue possibly doing a musical or something,” she said.

“I’m still plugging away at my accordion.”

“I’m quite nerdy and goofy. Joan is so poised and pulled together,” she added. “I’m sort of notorious for making a corn salad and forgetting the corn. But I’m getting much better.”

Q&A from

Christina Hendricks, who plays Joan Harris (née Holloway) on Mad Men, spoke with about delivering a good putdown and what behavior got her into trouble as a kid.

Q: With so many new faces in the Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce office, has the on-set vibe been different for Season 4?

A: Just being on a new set has felt different. We’re definitely more on top of each other; it’s a little more chaotic in there. Yeah, it’s weird having new people there — they’re getting used to us and we’re getting used to them. But they’ve been great! It’s been fun.

Q: When Joan confronts Joey and Stan, she delivers a harsh line or two about them and Vietnam. What was it like to deliver such a caustic putdown?

A: It was difficult and fun. It’s always fun to do a really well-written scene and decide how it’s supposed to be done and work with that material. What comes flying out of her mouth is atrocious, so we tried it a bunch of different ways with a bunch of different ideas behind it… And then every time I did it, everyone would go [makes a cowering face]. I’m like, “I know, I’m sorry, it’s terrible.” But that should be the reaction, so that’s good.

Q: Joan is very good at saying things with a look. Is this a skill you use in real life?

A: I do, I get myself in a lot of trouble. When I was a kid I couldn’t hide anything on my face. My dad would be like, “Don’t look at me like that,” and I’d be like what? And my eyes would be rolling in my head and [I’d be] smirking and doing all sorts of things. Yeah, I get in trouble for my expressions sometimes.

Q: Joan’s office is right next to SCDP’s noisy communal workspace. What’s the actual work environment like on the Mad Men set?

A: We’re all family at this point. We’ve been working together for so many years, there are lots of jokes. And when it’s time to roll everyone gets really serious and gets the job done.
